Short-Term Rental Licence Application

Submit one application per short-term rental property. Documents must be combined or scanned into one PDF or Word file and uploaded into this form. Applications are incomplete until all documents and payment of the $750 licence fee is received.

Only complete applications will be reviewed. Review must occur by implementation dates which are based on ward. The dates are shown below:

Bayfield-July 4, 2023; Hay West-July 25, 2023; remainder of municipality-August 15, 2023

 

This form may contain personal information as defined under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. This information is collected under the legal authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c25, as amended. This information will be used and maintained by the Municipality of Bluewater for administration of the municipal by-law enforcement and licensing process. Questions regarding this collection may be directed to the Municipal Clerk.

I, the undersigned, hereby acknowledge and certify that:

  1. Every Owner understands their responsibilities as a licensee.
  2. The premises is used primarily for residential purposes.
  3. The short-term rental will comply with the Parking Management Plan.
  4. The short-term rental is not subject to an Order made pursuant to the Building Code Act, 1992.
  5. The short-term rental contains functioning smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers and has fire exits.
  6. Every Owner confirms they will require each renter to abide by the Renter’s Code of Conduct.
  7. Every Owner confirms the accuracy, truthfulness and completeness of the information submitted; and
  8. Every Owner confirms that they will maintain liability insurance as required through this by-law while the short-term rental is being operated as a short-term rental.

This is a checklist of documents to include with the application.

1. proof of property ownership

2. government-issued identification

3. Owner's Attestation

4. proof of liability insurance which includes a liability limit of no less than $2 million dollars ($2,000,000.00) per occurrence for property damage and bodily injury and identifies that a short-term rental is being operated on the premises.

5. proof that rental business existed and operated between April 30, 2022, and May 1, 2023

6. site plan

7. parking management plan

8. fire safety plan

9. proof of septic maintenance, inspection and pump out services within the last five (5) years

10. current photo of the exterior front of the short-term rental building (taken from the street without trees or vegetation blocking view of building)
